Implementation of Enhanced Genuine Product Authentication System

We would like to inform you that we have completed the implementation of an enhanced genuine product authentication system for the applicable products, as announced in our September 24, 2024 notice, " Strengthening Measures Against Counterfeit Products. " Customers can now verify the authenticity of their purchased Icom products with even greater confidence than before.

We have discontinued the use of hologram stickers as a means of authenticating applicable products and have consolidated them into a more reliable QR code authentication system. This has been applied to all applicable products shipped from October 2025 onward, and we wish to inform you that stable operation of the enhanced system has now been confirmed.

By scanning the QR code printed on the serial number seal affixed to the back of the product with a smartphone or similar device, you can access our authentication website. For genuine products, the site will display confirmation of authenticity, the number of times the authentication site has been accessed using the same QR code, and the date/time of the last access. This mechanism ensures that even if a genuine QR code is copied and used on a counterfeit product, an unusually high access count will be displayed, allowing users to identify the product as counterfeit. Please note that cases of the authentication website itself being imitated have also been identified. Always verify that the URL of the site you have accessed is the official one (an address beginning with https://genuine.icom.co.jp/). 

Products bearing the conventional hologram stickers continue to circulate as market inventory and are genuine products of our company. For the time being, products with the new authentication system and conventional products will coexist in the market; however, any product purchased through authorized dealers may be used with complete confidence. * For some conventional models that are compatible with the QR code authentication system, both a QR code and a hologram sticker may be affixed to units still in distribution inventory. As with other models, any product that can be authenticated via QR code is a genuine product. Please refer to the list in the above URL for the applicable models.

Please note that products with a currently low risk of counterfeiting are not subject to the above measures. Regarding traceability throughout the manufacturing and distribution process, the same rigorous management as applied to the applicable products is maintained.

With the aim of raising awareness of counterfeit products among a broader user base, a leaflet describing the above measures in English, Chinese, Thai, and Indonesian is included with applicable products. We will also actively feature the same information in promotional materials such as catalogs for applicable products.
