Icom Supports Counterfeit Product Crackdown in Bangkok,Thailand

Icom Incorporated cooperated in an illegal transceiver investigation conducted in Bangkok in July 2025 at the request of Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) and continues to work to prevent the distribution of counterfeit products.

On July 3, 2025, Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) searched a company in Bangkok and discovered and seized numerous counterfeit communication devices that had not been approved by the Commission, including approximately 20,000 transceiver units.

It was also revealed at a press conference that the seized products included counterfeit versions of our company's products. In response, the relevant parties have been arrested under the Wireless Communications Act, Trademark Act, Official Document Forgery Act, and Government Trademark Act. The Commission stated that "the arrest of sellers of transceivers and mobile phones that do not meet standards not only ensures safety but also leads to consumer protection and prevents economic losses caused by interference with the distribution of genuine products."

Additionally, according to local media reports, it was found that most of the seized goods were being sold at abnormally low prices on online shops.

Our company responded to a cooperation request through our local distributor in Thailand, with our representative and the local distributor providing cooperation such as confirming the actual products at the warehouse. We plan to respond promptly to any future cooperation requests from the relevant authorities.

In Thailand, a crackdown on counterfeit product dealers was also carried out by the Thailand Department of Special Investigation (DSI) in January 2021, and our company presented a letter of appreciation to the DSI.

Our Initiatives

In response to the explosion incident in Lebanon on September 19, 2024, which involved counterfeit products, our company has established and is implementing a policy to strengthen measures against counterfeit goods from the perspective of ensuring consumer safety. In June of last year (2025), we announced the removal of over 4,500 counterfeit product listings on e-commerce sites operating mainly in Asia, and we are also engaged in awareness-raising activities at overseas exhibitions.

We will continue to further strengthen measures against counterfeit products, striving to ensure a safe and secure environment for the use of wireless communication equipment and to foster a sound market environment.
