Two Icom employees to participate in the Graduate School of Project Design's “Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Co-Creation Innovation Project Research.”
Icom Incorporated (Hirano-ku, Osaka, Hiroshi Nakaoka, President and CEO), will send two employees to attend the "Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Co-Creation Innovation Project Research" at the Graduate School of Project Design (Minato-ku, Tokyo), with the aim of developing new businesses in the near future.
The two employees that were selected through an in-house recruitment process will join the project for approximately one year, from May 2025 to March 2026. They will collaborate with other companies interested in comprehensive disaster management. Through collaboration with researchers from other companies on cutting-edge knowledge and business models related to "comprehensive disaster prevention," the program will explore new possibilities for wireless technology and develop new businesses that contribute to disaster prevention. This covers not only natural disasters but also a wide range of risks.
Two-way radio's strengths of "broadcastability," "immediacy," and "independence from infrastructure," which allows information to be communicated to many people simultaneously and immediately, have been useful many times over in past disasters. Although new wireless communication methods such as mobile phones and satellite communications have developed in recent years, the two-way radio equipment market remains strong. Our participation in this project is one of our business strategies to continue being a company that contributes to society even in such a changing market environment, and we aim to develop new businesses by utilizing the wireless technology we have cultivated. It also aims to promote reskilling in response to technological innovation in the market. This will be the second reskilling program using the Graduate School of Project Design.
