Icom Radios Featuring in "ULTRAMAN ARC" How Icom Radios Play a Key Role in Episode 10.
In “ULTRAMAN ARC,” the latest Ultraman special effects TV series, Icom Inc. provided amateur radio equipment to be used as props as part of a collaboration. Episode 10, titled “To My Distant Friend” will air on September 14, 2024, in Japan. It will be broadcast and distributed simultaneously worldwide in 13 languages through the official Ultraman YouTube channel.

Episode 10 tells a touching story about a young amateur radio operator (ham) who communicates with someone from a distant location. They use amateur radios as their main means of communication. However, the radio accidentally brings a space monster "Noiseler," to Earth. Icom's amateur radios play a key role in the plot!
Our IC-905 and IC-9700 amateur radios are prominently featured in this episode. These radios, which can be used for real-life communication with the international space station, are the main character's favorites. During filming, one of our ham staff provided him with guidance on amateur radio communication.

Realistic Set Design for the Ham Boy's Shack
As part of the collaboration, we ensured that the ham shack looked authentic in the set design. For example, while creating the boy's room, our staff visited the set to advise on the installation of a parabolic antenna and other amateur radio equipment, as well as on how the ham would realistically use the radios.
Our recent art collaborations with the Ultraman series include “ULTRAMAN TRIGGER - NEW GENERATION TIGA” (2021) and “ULTRAMAN Z” (2020).
As a manufacturer that started its business by producing amateur radio equipment, Icom is excited to bring the “adventure of amateur radio” to people of all ages, from children to adults.
