Report of Ham Fair 2019 in Tokyo
Ham Fair 2019, the biggest ham festival in Japan, was held at Tokyo Big Sight on August 31st and September 1st. A total of about 42,000 people visited this event.
At the Icom booth, our feature drawcard was the IC-705, a new all mode portable transceiver covering HF, VHF and UHF, and the IC-PW2, a new linear amplifier which enables SO2R operation. We gave live presentations on the IC-705, not only in Japanese, but also in English for the first time in Icom's Ham Fair history. We predicted there would be many visitors from abroad eager to know about this innovative new product.
In addition, we performed demonstrations of D-STAR radios, a remote control application for the IC-R30 and a concept demonstration of a "multilingual transceiver" which enables transmission in Japanese and receive in English, and vice versa.
Icom is the "First in Technology" company that never tires to continue developing the future of amateur radio.
